Terms of Service

Last updated: 4 July 2026

These terms govern your use of the Dressage Calling app ("the app"), provided by Christian Winter, trading as Dressage Calling, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom ("we", "us", "our"). By installing or using the app, you agree to these terms.

What the app is

Dressage Calling is a training aid for dressage riders: a test builder, a rehearsal tool for memorising a test away from the arena, and a live-calling mode that uses your phone's compass to detect movement and speak the next cue during a ride.

Safety notice. You are riding a horse. Your safety, and your horse's, comes before the app. Only use it in a way that doesn't distract you from riding — most riders keep the phone in a pocket and use headphones rather than looking at the screen. The app is a training aid, not a substitute for proper instruction, and we are not responsible for accidents, injury, or loss arising from its use.
Not for use during judged competition. The app is intended for training, rehearsal, and practice. Many competitions and governing bodies restrict or ban electronic devices in the competition arena, and rules on being "called" a test vary by level and body. Check your event's and governing body's rules before considering any use of the app during an actual judged test — using it inappropriately in competition is your responsibility, not ours.

Test content and copyright

The app only ever stores the movement sequence you build (e.g. "circle left 20m at A"), never the copyrighted text, layout, or diagrams of any governing body's official test sheet. Tests you create in the app are yours; we don't claim ownership of them.

Premium subscription

Some features require a paid subscription, purchased and managed through Google Play. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; cancel or manage your subscription through the Google Play Store app on your device. Refunds are handled per Google Play's standard policies — we don't process payments or refunds directly.

Acceptable use

No warranty

The app is provided "as is". Compass-based detection depends on your phone's sensors, calibration, and environment (indoor arenas with metal can affect readings) — we don't guarantee cues will always fire at exactly the right moment, and you should always ride to what you see and feel in the arena, not solely to a voice cue. To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties and liability for indirect or consequential loss.

Changes and termination

We may update these terms or the app's features over time; continued use after a change means you accept the update. We may suspend or discontinue the app or specific features at any time.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
